Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

Can I have a brief chat before booking a session?

I would welcome a chat with you.  I offer a 15 minute telephone conversation to discuss any concerns or queries you may have.  You are not obligated to book a session after our chat.

How Can I book a Counselling Session?

Please click on the 'Get In Touch' button at the top of this page, go to the Contact Form and submit your availability.  Or you can email or telephone to book a session.  Please be aware I may not be able to reply straight away if am with clients but I will get back to you within 24-48 hous.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes.  Online sessions are avilable on Zoom and Whatsapp Video Chat.

Do you offer evening sessions?

Yes, I offer a few in-person sessions in Gillingham or online sessions.

Do I need an assessment?

The purpose of an assessment is so we can get to know each other.  It provides an opportunity to see if we feel comfortable working together as counselling is based on trust and a therapeutic relationship.  It also gives us opportunity to discuss your needs, concerns and expectations from counselling and for us to discuss how we would work together forming a counselling contract to ensure I work safely and ethically with you.

Assessment sessions are charged at the same price as a counselling session however, they will be 1 hour in duration.

How long are sessions and how frequent?

Sessions are 50 minutes. It is recommended that sessions are held weekly.  I am happy to block book 4 sessions in advance to ensure availability for a specific time (block bookings are required to be paid in advance but are subject to a discount).  If you would like sessions less frequently than weekly than I am happy to discuss your needs and see how we can work together.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you feel you may need is entirely your decision. However, it is normally recommended that you would have a minimum of  8 sessions to start to feel the benefits from counselling.  As counselling is very individual and people attend for many reasons, sometimes short term therapy will  be all you require however, I also offer long-term open counselling.

Do I have to commit to weekly sessions or a regular time?

I understand life is busy and professional commitments and personal responsibilities can mean it is not always possible to attend a regular appointment slot.  I will always try to accommodate your needs, so please get in touch to discuss your individual needs.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

If you are unable to attend your appointment I would appreciate 48 hours notice.

For appointments cancelled past the notice period or missed appointments the full fee will be liable and payable before any further sessions can be booked.  Extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration. This cancellation policy will form part of our Counselling Contract.

Do you work with children?

Unfortunately, I am currently only able to provide counselling for adults and young people over the age of 16.

Do you do couples counselling?

Unfortunately I am not trained in couples counselling at present.

Do you accept referrals from organisations?

Yes, please contact me by email so that we can discuss how I can meet your clients needs. Assessments and reports can be provided upon request.
